What is ASE?
The ASE, or National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, is an organization that provides automotive testing and certifications for automotive professionals across the country. The purpose? To improve the quality of service and repair in the automobile industry, not only for consumers, but those who work in the auto service industry.
An ASE certified auto technician has received the appropriate testing to affirm their qualifications and certification, which provides the customer, service manager, and shop owner the reassurance that the technician has the proficient experience and knowledge to perform the challenging duties required of an auto repair professional. The ASE requirements for ASE certification include 2 years of on-the-job training, or a two-year degree in automotive repair and one year of hands-on training, and a passing grade on the ASE Certification Test. ASE certified professionals are required to take the ASE certification test every 5 years in order to uphold their certification status.
